Strategy

The National Maths and Physics SCITT  comprises eight awesome hubs across the country where you can train to teach Maths or Physics. This project is really all about education web design, from showcasing the amazing hub schools to the course content and the careers on offer.

Our task was to create a more contemporary, light and engaging website design whilst also carrying out a thorough restructuring of the content so that users could easily find the content they were looking for. The organisation was also looking to make a stronger connection with its social media channels, so ensuring that any new site would work well with social media sharing was also important.

In addition, a simpler and more coherent content structure and information architecture would provide an improved user experience whilst also enabling lead capture.

Creative

We came up with a really bright, fresh design for the website which maximised the use of videos to showcase the hub schools.  Video proved to be a great way of showcasing, what are, some of the top schools in the country and demonstrating what excellent bases they make for trainee teachers. We also incorporated animated touches such as a hotspot map, animated headings and entrance animations to highlight points of interest. We brought mathematical concepts and equations into the design with a light touch.

We then developed social media campaigns using a combination of jokes, testimonials, location-based posts and showcasing the benefits of the training program to prospective trainees.

Products

The first step was to create a new lead capture form for the existing site to capture leads whilst the new website was being designed and built. We then created a new website and social media campaigns to get the word out about the amazing funding opportunities for Maths and Physics teacher training courses. We also implemented a drip schedule of e-mails to keep those who expressed an interest engaged with the organisation right through to the start of their course.

Results

There has been lots of positive feedback from the partner schools about the new website, and lots of new leads generated. Have a look at the new teacher recruitment web design here.
